Well what can I say about the food; its simply a cut above what other people are doing right now.
They offer two complete menu's: a dayitme menu, and a more sophisticated evening menu - this is where their chef gets to flex his creative muscles.
Try it, try it, try it!!!
Scott & Zoe have been around for quite some time, and return visitors to caleta de fuste, will know them from the wonderful Blues Bar.
Well they have taken what they did in the Blues Bar, and have applied it to their latest venture - The Google & Firkin.
Offering great music, good drinks, and the food...
Last night myself and Kelly ventured into unknown territory - we went and ate at a new restuarant, the Goose & Firkin. Its not exactly new territory for us, as we know the owners, Scott & Zoe, very well indeed; but we thought we'd try something other than beer and cluttering up the bar area for a change.
We were seated by our waiter and good friend Jeff (the 4th finest Canadian) at an outside table and were brought expertly pulled pints of Doranda, which is a good start to any meal.
Soon after, and after some intensive people watching, we were brought our starter - some prawns in coconut, served with curried mayonaise, and they were fab, fluffy, and yummy all at the same time.
For our mains I tried the chilli burger, I know its not very adventurous, but thats me, and this was served with wedges, and salad, and came topped with cheese, and a wonderful marinated onion in tabasco sauce (oh my god). Kelly had the pate, served with a dip, round toast and topped with caviar. I had to try this as its my review, and it was fab, I haven't had caviar for some time, and this made me feel all posh.
Earlier we had to help the chef experiment with that nights new menu, as it changes every Tuesday, and were given samples of Stilton and Broccolli soup (amazing), and a wonderful thai chicken curry, which was nice and hot in a kind of creeps up on you, kind of way. Our meals were just starters really, and these were more than filling, and enough for me. So should fill most peoples stomachs.
Great prices helped, and so did the company. In all a great night, with some great people. Go try it now, seriously, why are you still reading?
